You may know that something is not working, but not which assessment or report is needed, who should provide it, or how the result will be used by a school, the NDIS, a doctor or your family. Our job is to clarify the pathway before asking you to commit to a costly assessment.

Screening before financial commitment

We collect the initial information securely and complete a comprehensive screening at no charge. Screening is not a diagnosis. Its purpose is to clarify the real question, what information already exists and the most appropriate next step.

If another service is more appropriate, we explain why and manage the external-referral pathway at no charge. We do this only with your or your authorised representative’s explicit consent. The complete actions are set out under “Two possible outcomes”.

Assessment is recommended only when it can answer the decision question. If existing information is enough, or another pathway is better, we say so.

The pathway, step by step

  1. Accept the screening terms
    Before collecting health information, we explain the no-cost screening terms, consent and information handling.
  2. Send information securely
    After the pathway begins, we provide secure instructions for submitting forms and documents. Health records are not collected through the public website form or ordinary email.
  3. Comprehensive free screening
    We review the question, history, existing documents, report audiences and the decision that needs to be made.
  4. Confirm the appropriate route
    We either define a suitable Embark service with its scope, fee, timeframe and outputs, or manage a no-cost referral pathway to a more appropriate external service.
  5. Approve the fee and book
    Payment begins and assessment is scheduled only after your written agreement.
  6. Assess, report and follow through
    Information is integrated, the report and required summaries are prepared, and we later check whether the output worked for its intended destination.

Two possible outcomes after screening

If an Embark service is appropriateBefore any paid work begins, we explain the agreed scope, fee, expected timeframe and outputs. After your written approval, we manage the documentation, information gathering, booking, coordination, assessment, reporting and agreed follow-up.
If another service is more appropriate — at no chargeWith your or your authorised representative’s explicit consent, we search for an appropriate external service; prepare a clinical referral summary tailored to the recipient’s role and information needs; collate relevant evidence and documents; and send the referral, summary and documents directly where we are permitted to do so. When a GP referral is required, we send the summary and relevant documents to the GP. We then follow up to confirm receipt and progress towards acceptance or another clear outcome and, where consent permits, keep the relevant referrer informed.

Information is shared only with necessary and authorised recipients and within the consent provided. Acceptance by an external service is not guaranteed.

These are examples, not a complete list. Other psychological assessments or services may be available following screening.

If a shorter piece of psychological work or a more limited assessment is appropriate, its scope, price and payment arrangement are stated separately before work begins.

Price and payment option

The total fee for each of the two assessment examples above is $1,500.

Payment plan: After you accept the assessment recommendation: $250 to commence, $250 before the assessment is booked, then ten monthly payments of $100. There is no interest, hidden fee or other mandatory charge.

The fee includes information review, interview and assessment activities, scoring and analysis, the final report, written summaries tailored to the relevant audiences, and reasonable post-report follow-up.

Only genuinely new work requested later and outside the agreed scope requires a separate written quote.

Timing, reporting and follow-up

  • Assessment appointments are typically available within approximately four weeks; exact availability is confirmed after screening.
  • The final report is provided within four weeks of the last assessment activity and receipt of all required information.
  • Feedback is provided in plain written language. With explicit consent, a summary tailored to the role and information needs of each necessary and authorised recipient is prepared and sent, and relevant feedback is provided to the referrer.
  • After submission to the NDIS, a school, doctor or another service, we check whether the report was usable and whether reasonable clarification or correction is needed.

Clinical accountability

Provisional Psychologists may collect some direct assessment information under appropriate oversight. The responsible Registered Psychologist integrates the evidence, reaches or endorses the conclusions and accepts professional accountability. The proposed team is made clear before work begins.

Every final Embark diagnostic report is reviewed and signed by Arman Naeini, Registered Psychologist (AHPRA PSY0002636655).

Cancellation

  • More than 48 hours before the assessment appointment: no cancellation charge applies and unused amounts are refunded.
  • Within 48 hours of the appointment: up to $250 may be retained for reserved time and reasonable, actual loss.
  • After assessment activity has occurred: $500 is retained for work completed; any remaining unused portion is refunded.

These terms do not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Illness, emergencies and exceptional circumstances are considered fairly.

What is not guaranteed

Screening or assessment does not guarantee a particular diagnosis, NDIS funding, school acceptance, approval of an application, acceptance by an external service or a positive decision by any third party. We commit to a clear process, professional reasoning and a defensible report—not an outcome outside our control.
